Renting a room

Renting a room in the Community Hall "Newsar"

The rooms are for passing on and learning Ainu culture, and also for local meetings and club activities. You can book by phone.

Opening hours: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (until 10:00 p.m. when a room is booked)

How to apply

  1. Phone the centre and ask which dates and times are free. The number is 0155-66-7770.
  2. Fill in the application form for use of the facility. If you are booking many dates, also fill in the attached list of dates and times.
  3. Before the day of use, hand in the form at the centre's counter and pay the fee.

The counter is open from 8:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It is closed on Tuesdays and over the New Year period. The forms are in Japanese.

How far ahead you can book

Ordinary useFrom the first day of the month three months before the month of use. First come, first served.
Tournaments and performancesFrom the first day of the month one year before the month of use.
Regular use (for example, member groups of the town's culture and sports associations)From the first day to the middle of the month four months before the quarter of use. These bookings have priority.

What the rooms are for

The tradition room has a hearth and ritual implements, so traditional Ainu ceremonies can be held there.

Traditional dishes can be cooked in the kitchen. The training rooms are for crafts such as embroidery and wood carving.

The Community Hall closes at 5:00 p.m., but booked rooms can be used until 10:00 p.m.
